The plan for the extension completes the productive area of Cofermetal, a highly diversified company which manufactures and distributes consumer goods for industrial applications. The introduction of a new block, a rectangular addition, 120 m long and 8 m high, fits perfectly into the setting of the large-scale infrastructures that surround the building.
The design organizes the double nature of the building, production and storage, in two different aisles, divided by a linear system working as the service spine and emergency fire escape.
This consistency is perceptible thanks to particular openings through which sunlight enters from the North.
The facades of the building are developed as a continuous woven surface of black precast concrete elements with a thin metal finishing. These aluminium elements will let the Cofermetal writing be seen from the trains passing nearby.
