The new European Public Library is a simple, compact building: two naves accommodate the main parts of a complex program – the Forum and the Departments. The two naves are similar in form but different in content: the first is lighter and open towards the square, while the second is denser, reserved, and silent. The two volumes shape a dual yet unified building. Designed in collaboration with Baukuh, the architecture combines simplicity of form with an advanced climatic concept, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of the building and its carbon footprint.
