The project has to deal with the critical urban condition of the site on one hand, and with the ambition of creating a new community capable of expressing its own identity through its architecture on the other.
The housing complex, inspired by the campus model rather than by an urban pattern, is based on an open scheme - as the community will be open to the city - and is made up of different volumes declaring their formal autonomy. The articulation of the program - mostly related to the two typical contemporary dwelling aspirations of the city apartment and the single house with its own garden - introduces hybrid modes, with two complementary aggregative strategies: one vertical, for the tower buildings, and one horizontal, for the patio houses.
This variation and combination of different housing types generates an articulation of the façades based on the individuality of different cases rather than on repetition of the same module. The scheme provides for large common green areas and permeability to the south; common services and entrance halls are arranged along the main central path, intended to become the privileged place of public relations within the new community.
