The area, located within the borders of Parco Agricolo Sud, is longitudinally divided by a monumental black locust line, a strong feature of the site.
From the eastern part of the area there is a broad view over the agricultural fields surrounding the metropolitan area of Milan.
The new buildings are located at the very end of the site; the plan is organized around a central open space: three main functions - the owner’s residence, the housekeeper’s unit and the dog breeding structure - are connected to the entrance portico which appears as a spacious room under the sky.
The plan articulates different spaces towards the surrounding landscape according to different activities; to north there is the main access route, private parking and the housekeeper’s home. The main residence is close to the breeding area, as required by the client. Perforated long concrete walls define the spaces. The concrete is red with shades of brown similar to the brick work in the walls of Borromeo Castle, very close to the site. The buildings look brown when in darkness and rather reddish in daylight. The building oscillates between earthiness and artificiality.
