The project involved reorganization of the production facilities of FRIEM, a leader in the design and manufacture of high power converters, in a Milan suburb. The main idea is to define the boundaries of the production site by building a continuous wall to create a feeling of enclosure of the urban block; the L-shaped building creates an interior garden and redevelops the boundaries on the street .
The program articulates production and research spaces located on the ground floor with large openings onto the garden and offices in the second floor. The metal skin envelopes the building entirely like a curtain, letting light into the building in different degrees in relation to its exposure to the sun and the degree of intimacy to be achieved in the interior.
